Why Project Ransom

The blood of 60 million slaughtered children cries out to heaven as judgment against our nation.
Tragically, this also means that countless mothers and fathers are facing the horror of the violence done to their children for the rest of their lives. The magnitude of the problem begs the question: are we doing all that we can for them?

Abortion has such a tenacious hold on our country that after nearly a half a century of passionate pro-life work, dismembering a child in the womb is still legal and protected in the United States. In Mark 9:29, Christ’s apostles ask Him why they had failed to cast out a particular demon. Jesus replied:
“This kind can only be cast out by prayer and fasting.”

Our Lord taught, through both word and example, that there is great power in fasting. Indeed, there are times when it is an indispensable tool to cast out a particularly pernicious evil.

Ultimately, only God can soften and change hearts. Only He can turn any legislative victories into a lasting transformation of culture. Our role as "Ransomers" is to faithfully, with unyielding hope, beg His Mercy and Grace to convert hearts through our prayer & fasting.

In Gen.18:32, God says that 10 righteous men could save Sodom. If just 10 could save that wicked city, what could hundreds of fasting Americans do? Or thousands?? Let us answer the call to save our culture!

The Suffering of Christ Saves
Jesus “came not to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.” He ransomed us from slavery to sin by His suffering and death on the cross. That was His work on earth. And as the Body of Christ here and now, Christians are called to carry on the work of Jesus Christ until He comes again.
St Paul says, “I rejoice now in the sufferings I bear for your sake; and what is lacking of the sufferings of Christ I fill up in my flesh for his body, which is the Church.” Jesus’ work on earth was our salvation. Therefore, as His Mystical Body, when we pick up our cross and follow Him, we continue His work throughout the world.
This is Redemptive Suffering
Recall that St. Paul says it is necessary to “fill up what is lacking in the suffering of Christ.” But Jesus is God! What could be lacking in His suffering? Only our free cooperation in His work: because God wills to save humanity, with the participation of humanity.
God doesn’t NEED our help; but He WANTS it… He desires that we realize our dignity as heirs to the Kingdom by participating in the work of that Kingdom, applying the graces of Christ’s redemption by taking up our cross and imitating Him.
Redemptive Suffering is the awe-inspiring honor of being the Lord’s co-workers and God’s children! Our Ransom sacrifice is the little "suffering" we take on specifically for conversion of hearts to a culture of LIFE!!
